In some situations, Hyper Media Players cannot always be connected to the LAN. The SpinetiX HMP can be a truly mobile device by connecting it to the 3G or 4G network (e.g. boats, trains, buses, taxis etc). Mobile applications can also benefit from a GPS device in order to manage screen content based on location.

3G/4G networks

3G and 4G networks enable truly mobile deployments or dispersed applications where wired network access is not available. The SpinetiX pull mode also allows users to schedule data connections during network off peak times to save on costs. HMP saves even more by only downloading content which has changed since the last update. HMP also automatically uploads all activity and media logs files for analysis (e.g., for billing).

GPS

Integrate your HMP with a compatible GPS device and you're ready for location-aware content. Taxi fitted with HMP & GPS can promote local restaurants and shops depending on its location, destination. A ferry boat could map its exact location on a map and display estimated arrival time etc.

GPS devices are easily integrated using the serial port of the HMP. GPS data is regularly reported using a JavaScript, and the content adapts according to the location. JavaScript allows almost unlimited possibilities of interaction with the content: such as direct display real-time positioning or processing of the data based on the location, the possibilities are endless. Eg. Fred’s Coffee shop in 500m, ask the driver to stop and received a free cookie.
